Antonio Costa (Pego, Alicante, 1984), Degree on Fine Arts, Universitat Politècnica de València (Facultad de BBAA San Carlos), off two training courses abroad: Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design de Praga (Prague), and at Escola de Comunicações e Artes (São Paulo). In 2012 he achieved to get Máster de Producción Artística, at UPV-Valencia. After a recent stay in Berlin, Costa lives in Valencia and combines creativity and artistic education.
There are some concerns which generate Antonio Costa’s works; image as language, thinking the image from the image itself, memory, public and space.
The representation of the woods or of the crowd are models to reproduce. They reinforce the interest in the visual experementation around the ambiguity of the image. Formality is sought as a visual result and the images are in need of the title in order to be contextualized.
The public and the space are also agents to be considered as for the production of the work is concerned. The interpretation of the image, the space were the works are, the distance from which are observed are facts which have determined the experimentation in the work of Costa.
The process of the work is important for the artist. The different means used for its accomplishment convey constant research and interaction with the materials. As a result, out of technique, a work rich in nuances is generated.
